a bried recap of my last 6 months
I'm here in Dallas working on getting my masters in literacy. Fun and hard. Currently I am studying phonetics and phonology as the base to my masters in literacy. In phonetics we are learning the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) which is basically an alphabet that allows linguists to write any known language phonetically. I learned how to do clicks!!! Ever seen "The Gods Must Be Crazy?" We learned how to make sounds like the guy in that movie. Incredibly fun. Definately have not mastered them though. In phonology we are basically studying how all those sounds in the IPA relate and/or change eachother when they are placed in a word together.
I am becoming more nerdy every day. It's fabulous. Linguistics humor is about as corny as Bible college humor but I think its just as funny. I'm hopeless :*)
