the Shepherd

God is my Shepherd. This is a theme that keeps popping up in my life. Jn.10, my pastor's sermons...What does it mean that God is our Shepherd? He knows us. He knows that we are like sheep- animals that don't clean themselves and are fairly stupid. We are in desperate need of Him but He meets that need. He cares for us, defends us, chases us down when we need that...This Shepherd became one of us and was led like a lamb to the slaughter in our place. Praise God! Praise God He takes the time to lead us and to be our guard.
On the other hand there is never any guarantee that this Shepherd will defend us from everything. He is also God and understands what good and bad accomplishes in this world. He allows things in our lives that hurt and many times hurt deeply.
But God never changes and He never ceases to be good. Regardless of what He allows He is still our Shepherd. He has given us the privilege to be His and to be known by Him. We hear His voice and follow. I will relish in that privilege! I will continue to follow!

"I am the good Shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep." Jn. 10:14-15
